  2. The reading lasts for 1.5 hours with a focus on relationships, career, personality, spirituality and future trends. If you have any other areas of interest or specific questions, please mention them at the time of booking your readings so Yildiz can focus on the information you are needing.

What is Vedic Astrology, (also known as Jyotish)?

Vedic Astrology (or Ancient Indian Astrology) came from the Vedas (ancient Indian Scriptures written between 10,000 - 5000 years B.C) and incorporates the mythology and spiritual teachings of India into a method that can help to illuminate our lives. It has close links to Ayurveda (traditional Indian Medicine), and Yoga.

The position of the planets at the moment of your birth over the place of your birth becomes your horoscope chart. The horoscope sign on the horizon at the moment of your birth becomes your Ascendant sign. We all have the same planets and horoscope signs in our chart but the position of the planets in the signs and houses is what makes each of us unique. For the purpose of analysing the chart, the areas of life (eg. Relationships, Family, Wealth etc.), are assigned to 12 houses. Each house is ruled by one of the horoscope signs.

In addition, Vedic Astrology believes that we are in a constant cycle of rebirth called reincarnation, in order to 'Perfect our souls'. This forms the spiritual basis of Astrology. Karma is simply the consequences of our actions, we create karma for our future lives by our actions in this life, and likewise must accept the 'good' or 'bad' karma from past lives.

Astrology may help you to come to terms with some of the issues in your life and give you the key to unlock some of the secrets of your psychological make up, so that you may have the opportunity to make the changes that will enrich your life.

Why would I use Vedic Astrology?

The purpose of the astrology is to clarify the type of events and issues that we are likely to face, as well as give us a mirror-image of our characteristics. In this way, we may be aware of the way others perceive us and the effects we may have on them. In haveing this knowledge we will then have the awareness, power and choice to make changes within ourselves and our lives in order to enrich them.

How does Vedic Astrology differ to Western Astrology?

Western Astrology is considered to be the cousin of Vedic Astrology and does have merit in its own areas of expertise. However, Vedic Astrology may be more forthright about both the positive and negative aspects of the chart and give a lot more specific detail.

Western Astrology considers the Sun Sign (The Month) of your birth to be most significant, the Ascendent and Moon is of secondary significance. Vedic Astrology considers the Ascendent and Moon to be the most significant.

What is the Sun Sign in Western Astrology?

This is the sign that your sun occupies in your chart. This means if you are born in April under the Western system you might think that your sun is in Aries, and therefore an Aries person. However, if a Vedic (sidereal chart) is drawn up for you, (with the 23 degrees error subtracted to give the true position of the planets), your sun may now be in Pisces rather than Aries.

What is Your Ascendant Sign?

As the earth rotates every 24 hours around the sun, the sign that was on the horizon at the moment of your birth over the place of your birth becomes your ascendant sign. This could be any of the twelve horoscope signs, as the earth rotates through each of them in a 24 hour period. For example, in the Vedic system you could be an Aquarian ascendant, who was born in April.
